Meet Our Production Manager

IKONICS AMS is more than just Precision Abrasive Machining and slot perforations. We have an entire team dedicated to ensuring we are the preferred service provider of precision machining of composites, wafers and other brittle materials.

This month take a look behind-the-scenes with Bill Mobilia, Plant Manager for IKONICS AMS, a division of the IKONICS Corporation. Bill has been with IKONICS for almost fifteen years and is key in helping to make IKONICS AMS the leader in advanced material solutions by ensuring things are running smoothly, quickly, efficiently and safely.

How long have you worked for IKONICS?
I have worked for IKONICS for 14 years. It will be 15 years in February 2020.

What is your job at IKONICS?
I am the Production Manager in the AMS division of IKONICS.

What did you do before working at IKONICS?
I played 2 seasons of minor league baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies organization. I also taught American History, Geography and World History at Hermantown Middle School for 1 ½ years, then became a Sales Representative for John Morrell and Co. selling pork products (bacon, ham, hot dogs, etc). A sales position opened up in the IKONICS Imaging division in 2005 that I applied for and I was hired. I worked in the IKONICS Imaging division for 8 years before moving over to the AMS division in 2013.

What are your hobbies outside of work?
In my spare time I like to golf, go fishing, grouse hunt, and duck hunt.

What was your last vacation?
My family has been going on a camping trip to various parts of the country the last 7 summers with a group of 6 other families. We pick a different location each year. We’ve traveled to the Black Hills and Badlands in South Dakota. We’ve also been to Niagara Falls, Yellowstone National Park, Banff National Park in Canada, Estes Park in Colorado and Glenwood Springs in Colorado. This year we went to Tennessee near Pigeon Forge and Gaitlinburg, and then to Mammoth Caves in Kentucky.

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would someday like to go to Italy. I have relatives I have never met that live in a small village called Taino where my great grandparents immigrated from in the northwestern part of Italy. I would also like to see Rome and Venice.

And finally, the most dividing question here at IKONICS… Packers or Vikings?
Vikings of course!
